In my very bias opinion, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is home to some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the United States. Going “up north” is a staple summer vacation for Michiganders. Offering outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming and more, the area’s incredible scenic views double as a nature enthusiast’s playground.

Before starting the journey across the mighty Mackinac Bridge, discover the charm of Mackinaw City at the tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. A fusion of historic sites and modern attractions intrigues tourists of all ages. Main Street is packed with one-of-a-kind boutiques, delectable eateries and historic galleries that will satisfy any traveler’s desires.
The Mackinaw Bridge, or “Mighty Mac,” stretches five miles to connect Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Currently the longest suspension bridge in the Western Hemisphere, the trek from one end to the other is an adventure in itself. Visitors from around the world flock to the steel giant to make the commute across at 200 ft above the icy Straights of Mackinac.

Tahquamenon Falls State Park
Covering nearly 50,000 acres in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is the breathtaking Tahquamenon Falls State Park. Cascading from the Tahquamenon River, the Upper Falls stretches 200 feet wide, making it the state’s largest waterfall. In addition to overlooks for both the Upper and Lower Falls, the park includes over 35 miles of hiking trails, campgrounds and a boat launch. Guests can visit the park from 8 am-10 pm daily, year round. There is an $11 entry fee for non-residents and vehicles without a Michigan Recreation Passport.
